Tutor's Code Of Conduct
Hello educators,
Welcome onboard Watersprings Academy. We are delighted to have you join our team of innovative educators. As a member of this team, you are expected to abide by certain rules and regulations as well as imbibe our code of conduct and guidelines to ensure that our online after-school tutorial platform is a safe space for all stakeholders alike. These include the following:
WATERSORINGS ACADEMY TUTORS CODE OF CONDUCT
1. Professional Conduct
Maintain a professional attitude during all sessions and interactions with students, parents, and staff.
Use respectful language and behavior that fosters a positive learning environment.
Avoid discussing personal matters during tutoring sessions or in communications with parents.
2. Punctuality and Time Management
Always be on time for scheduled sessions.
Respect the agreed-upon time limits and structure of lessons to maintain consistency.
Notify both students and administrators in advance if rescheduling is necessary.
3. Communication with Parents
Limit communication with parents to academic matters only, such as student progress, challenges, and areas of improvement. If there is an issue regarding academics or students attitude or performance, escalate same to management not the parents.
Refrain from sharing personal contact details such as private phone numbers or personal social media accounts.
Redirect any concerns or issues raised by parents beyond academic support to the platform's designated support staff or administrators.
Keep records of all interactions and feedback shared with parents for transparency.
4. Student Privacy and Safety
Protect student privacy by adhering to data protection policies (e.g., GDPR or COPPA, depending on location).
Do not share students' personal information, pictures or academic records with unauthorized individuals.
Always conduct lessons through the approved online platform to ensure safety and professionalism.
5. Assignments and Grading
Provide consistent, meaningful assignments that align with the student's learning plan.
Grade assignments objectively, providing detailed feedback to help the student improve.
Ensure all assignments are graded and returned within a timely manner, preferably within 24 hours of submission.
Maintain accurate records of student progress, including grades, assignment submissions, and feedback.
6. Periodic Assessments
Conduct periodic formative and summative assessments using all assessments tools within the Learning Management System (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) to evaluate student progress.
Ensure assessments are fair, clearly communicated to students and parents in advance, and aligned with the curriculum.
Provide detailed feedback after each assessment, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement.
7. Consistency and Preparedness
Be well-prepared for each session with materials and a lesson plan aligned with the student’s learning objectives.
Maintain consistency in teaching methods to build trust and promote student engagement.
Adjust teaching approaches when necessary to meet the specific needs and learning styles of individual students.
8. Professional Boundaries
-Maintain appropriate boundaries with students. Personal relationships, including friendships outside the tutoring platform, are discouraged and strictly prohibited
-Avoid meeting students in person unless it is part of a sanctioned platform event, and always with parental and administrative approval.
9. Collaboration and Feedback
-Regularly collaborate with other tutors and administrative staff to ensure the highest quality of tutoring.
-Be open to feedback from students, parents, and colleagues and use it to improve your tutoring methods.
10. Conflict Resolution
Handle any conflicts with students or parents professionally and report issues to the platform's administration immediately.
Do not engage in arguments or unprofessional behavior if disagreements arise.
